Bottega dei Sapori to Bring Gourmet Italian Specialties to Travelers at the AIRMALL at Pittsburgh International Airport

Fine Foods Store Has Signed Lease Agreement to Open in Summer 2013

PITTSBURGH, April 16, 2013 – AIRMALL® USA, the leading airport concessions developer in North America and operator of the AIRMALL at Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT), will soon offer travelers the chance to enjoy some of the best gourmet delights of Italy with the addition of Bottega dei Sapori (1,125 sq. ft.) to the concessions program. Airest Collezioni, an international travel retail operator based in Italy, will open the Italian specialty store in the airport’s Center Core later this year. The AIRMALL at PIT recently forged a seven-year agreement with Airest Collezioni to develop retail at the AIRMALL at PIT.

“At AIRMALL USA, we’re ready to take travelers on a culinary tour of Italy with the addition of Bottega dei Sapori,” said Jay Kruisselbrink, vice president of development for AIRMALL USA. “It will have a comfortable, relaxing atmosphere and a selection of Italy’s finest gourmet cuisine, wine and coffee. Travelers can grab an espresso before their flight or purchase a memorable gift for the foodie in their life at this unique new store.”

“Bottega dei Sapori — which means ‘a shop of flavors’ in Italian — is a reflection of Airest Collezioni’s passion for the wonderful tastes of Italy, and we look forward to giving travelers at PIT an authentic shopping and dining experience,” added Monica Scarpa, CEO of Airest S.p.A., the parent company of Airest Collezioni.

Inspired by Airest Collezioni’s popular fine foods shop in Venice, Bottega dei Sapori will offer gourmet cuisine, including artisanal pastas in all shapes, flavors and sizes; small batch extra virgin olive oils; fine meats and cheeses; decadent chocolates and cookies; and premium Italian coffee. The store’s knowledgeable staff can offer details about all of the store’s offerings, and travelers can choose to have their purchases shipped.

Bottega dei Sapori will also offer travelers a tasting corner, where they can select from a variety of freshly prepared products. This includes a panino with the finest San Daniele prosciutto and real Campania mozzarella, or a simple yet delectable sampling of cheese and olives. Travelers can pair their meal with a glass or bottle from Bottega’s carefully curated list of Italian wines. Those with morning flights will appreciate Bottega’s selection of authentic Italian espressos and cappuccinos.

Bottega dei Sapori is expected to open in the summer of 2013.

In March 2013, the AIRMALL announced its partnership with Airest Collezioni to bring a selection of luxury brands to the terminal at PIT. The new stores will be located in the Center Core, which is situated in the Airside Terminal and receives all departing and arriving passengers.

The new stores are part of a $10-million upgrade to the AIRMALL at PIT, a yearlong construction project that will result in the most significant overhaul of the concessions program since the airport opened in 1992. Phase one of the construction project began in January.
