Event at I-X Center is Free, Will Provide More Details on Upcoming Transformation of Retail, Food and Beverage Concessions by BAA Cleveland
CLEVELAND, April 8, 2008 – BAA Cleveland, the newly appointed master developer of retail, food and beverage concessions at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE); and Cleveland Hopkins International Airport are preparing to showcase the many business opportunities that will become available at the new AIRMALL® at CLE in the coming years. Retailers, business owners, contractors, builders, suppliers and other entrepreneurs are invited to attend an Outreach Event at the I-X Center (One I-X Center Drive) on Tuesday, April 15, 2008. Attendees are encouraged to stop in at any time from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is free and open to all interested parties, and free parking is available to all attendees.
“BAA USA is excited about the partnership we have forged with the City of Cleveland to transform the concessions at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, especially because of the anticipated economic benefit it will generate for the region,” said Mark Knight, president of BAA Cleveland. “This Outreach Event will provide business owners and other key regional stakeholders with a better understanding of how they might participate in the creation of the AIRMALL® at CLE, what business ventures or partnerships might be available, and how to go about doing business at the airport.”
In February, Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson announced that the City of Cleveland had forged a ten-year contract with BAA to develop and manage concessions at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. The city anticipates that the new AIRMALL® at CLE will double retail sales figures at Hopkins over a ten-year period, double the number of concession jobs, and double the current participation rate of local and minority-owned companies.
“We expect that the April 15th Outreach Event will demonstrate to key business people that the AIRMALL® can serve as a catalyst for the region’s ongoing economic development efforts,” Knight said. “With a combination of recognized national brands, high-quality local concepts and a promise of ‘Regular Mall Prices…Guaranteed,’ BAA’s AIRMALL® model boasts the highest per-passenger spend among all of the nation’s airports and continues to earn industry accolades for innovation and customer service.”
