Southwest Airlines and retail and restaurant tenants filling 190 available positions
BALTIMORE, July 13, 2015 – On July 1, the AIRMALL at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) in partnership with the Baltimore City Mayor’s Office of Employment Development (MOED) hosted a job fair at the airport with Southwest Airlines and more than a dozen retail and food and beverage tenants. More than 140 candidates attended the fair. The Mayor’s Office of Employment Development prescreened applicants, which facilitated on-the-spot interviews and hires—over 50 interviews were conducted at the job fair, and more than 50 additional applicants will be called back for interviews. Additionally, approximately 10 candidates were hired on the spot.

We believe it reflects the innovation, growth and development of the airport community and a productive collaboration with the Mayor’s Office of Employment Development. There are quality jobs to fill here and thanks to the partnership with MOED they will be filled with qualified, engaged applicants.”
Residents interested in careers in the retail, airline, and food service industries had the opportunity to apply for more 190 available positions with Southwest Airlines, KoDee Cakes, The Firkin & Flyer, Marshall Retail Group, Hudson Group, Tech Showcase, Passports, HMS Host International, Chipotle, Travel Retail Solutions, Obrycki’s, The Body Shop, Mayorga Café and Great Foods, LLC. Southwest Airlines positions include ramp agents, operation agents, provision agents and customer service agents. Retail and restaurant operators are seeking crew members, sales associates, bartenders, hosts, servers, line cooks, cashiers, shift managers, assistant managers and supervisors. Given the success of this program, another Job Fair is being planned for October.
